Requirements
Microphone
CX requires access to your computer's microphone so you can speak with customers on voice tasks. The first time you open CX, your browser will prompt you to grant microphone access.
Granting Microphone Access
When the prompt appears, follow the steps for your browser:
- Google Chrome — a small dialog drops down from the address bar (top-left of the window) asking "<site> wants to use your microphone". Click Allow.
- Microsoft Edge — a similar dialog appears just below the address bar. Click Allow (or Allow this time if you want to be re-prompted later).
The dialog will only appear the first time you visit CX, or after you have explicitly cleared site permissions. Once allowed, your choice is remembered for the CX domain.
If you closed the prompt without choosing, refresh the page and you will be asked again.
When CX Doesn't Have Microphone Access
If you have denied or dismissed the microphone prompt, CX can't connect you to voice tasks and you will see clear visual indicators across the app:
- Warning banner — a red banner is pinned to the top of every page reading "CX requires access to your microphone to make and receive calls". The banner stays visible until permission is granted.
- Incoming calls can't be accepted — when a voice task is offered, the Accept Call button in the incoming-call panel is greyed-out and non-clickable. Hovering it surfaces a tooltip explaining that microphone access is required.
- Outbound calls are blocked — on the dialpad, the green Call button is disabled after you enter a number, with the same tooltip explaining the missing permission.
Re-enabling Microphone Access After Denying
Once a browser remembers a "denied" answer, it won't ask you again automatically. You'll need to update the site's permission manually:
Google Chrome
- Click the lock / tune icon to the left of the address bar while on the CX website.
- Choose Site settings.
- Find the Microphone row and switch it from Block to Allow.
- Reload the page.
Microsoft Edge
- Click the lock icon to the left of the address bar.
- Choose Permissions for this site.
- Set Microphone to Allow.
- Reload the page.

Cookies
CX uses cookies to keep you signed in and to remember your preferences (e.g. selected queue, sidebar layout, theme). Without cookies, the app cannot establish a session, so sign-in will fail.
If you disable cookies while signed in, you may see unexpected behaviour — tasks may not route correctly, settings may reset on refresh, and you may be silently signed out.
